The Consortium of EP Global Commerce, Fimalac and Attestor will likely gain control of Casino, but this hasn’t stopped other suitors from trying to peel off assets. Lidl, the German discounter, has indicated interest in taking over 600 Casino and Monoprix stores, according to Le Monde. The MD of Lidl has written to Attestor indicating the willingness to purchase 300 Monorpix and 300 Casino supermarkets.
Separately, GPA has received an offer for 50% of Exito. This revised offer equates to $586.5 for a 51% stake from the Colombian billionaire Jaime Gilinsky, an increase on the $836m for a 97% stake received last month. The 51% bid doesn’t help GPA much in disposing all of their 97% stake leaving the balance, 46% more difficult to sell.
