Boparan - comment

CF Industries' decision to shut its ammonia plant at Billingham for an indeterminate period of time due to high natural gas prices has created yet another cost headache for the UK chicken processing industry (and others), highlighting the secondary effects from high gas prices. Our modelling has Boparan coping with the situation, but pass through of C02 cost increases may take time as the automatic ratchets that the company put in place to address feed costs may not have been designed cover CO2 costs as well.

- Production of ammonia in the UK will only resume when the natural gas price comes down or the UK government offers assistance to the ammonia producers (it did last September but has refused this year).
