Sourcing some of its chicken from Germany is more about ASDA’s lower prices campaign than it is about supply chain challenges. It sends a warning shot to suppliers in the UK. We do not expect a return to the antagonistic relationship between the supermarkets and suppliers that existed until two years ago, but some pushback on margins was inevitable. ASDA will continue to source mainly from UK farms.
